Woori Center Community Organizer
Full-Time Position
Location: Montgomery County and Greater Philadelphia, PA
Reports to the Executive Director
Established in late 2018, Woori Center’s mission is to organize Korean and Asian Americans to achieve social, racial and economic justice. Serving the greater Philadelphia area, Woori Center empowers the most vulnerable community members including low-income, recent immigrant, limited English proficiency, undocumented, youth, women and seniors. Through education, social service, community organizing, public policy advocacy and civic participation, Woori Center ensures that these community members can impact progressive change at the local and state levels. Woori Center is an affiliate of a national progressive Asian American organization, NAKASEC.
The Community Organizer is responsible for building a strong base of community activists and leading effective campaigns. The Community Organizer directly reports to the Executive Director. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
● Engage and build relationships with community members, particularly low-income, recent immigrant, limited English proficiency, undocumented, youth, women and seniors.
● Develop, implement and evaluate creative and effective organizing campaigns that serve and engage our target populations.
● Develop and implement civic engagement programs and projects; such as door knocking, phone banking, texting, mailings, voter registration, voter education, and other forms of outreach.
● Recruit, train, and develop a base of volunteer activists who are committed to leading our immigrant rights campaigns.
● Support the political education and leadership development of community members.
● Plan and execute community engagement events, like Know Your Rights workshops, campaign actions, and voter registration drives.
● Ensure the intersection of immigrant rights with race, gender, sexual orientation and ability are integrated into campaign planning.
● Help represent Woori Center in relevant coalitions and provide public speaking at conferences and events as needed.
● Identify new partnerships and engagement strategies where appropriate.
● Collaborate with the Executive Director in developing program goals, plans, and budgets.

4. Attention to detail - You can review data for completeness and quality, spot any errors or mistakes, and ensure that all information meets requirements and standards.
5. Commitment to racial and social justice – You have a strong understanding of issues facing the Asian American community and other marginalized communities including people of color, women, and LGBTQ community members. You have a deep commitment to change the world with marginalized communities especially in immigrant rights and social, economic, and racial justice.
Prior experience in civic engagement or community organizing is preferred, but not required. We will provide training and support in those areas. Given the communities we are serving, fluency in English and Korean would be a huge asset, but is not required.
The salary range for this position will be $40,000 - $45,000.
